Quinta Estrada Romana – A Home with a Soul

Built in 1878, it has stood for centuries as a farmhouse, providing shelter, warmth and stories. Today, it opens its doors to pilgrims walking the Camino de Santiago, offering rest and reflection along the ancient road.

The old villagers still tell us about the vineyards and olive terraces that once surrounded Quinta Estrada Romana, and how, a hundred years ago, a shoemaker crafted pilgrims’ boots in a corner of the animal stables.

When our family arrived here five years ago, we fell in love with the wild gardens, the 2.5 hectares of forest and water channels with the pond and the charm of the colourful restored farmhouse — a place that feels a little like Villa Kunterbunt, full of life and character.

Since then, we have run the Pilgrim Albergue together with our three children, supported by locals, friends, and travellers. It is a meaningful work — and deeply human. Every day, we welcome pilgrims from around the world, creating a space where they can rest, recharge, and find guidance on their way.
